Lose a Turkey for Thanksgiving!

Ok, I am stealing this from a friend on FB, but I can really use the help and motivation. I have been on MFP for a while now and I'm ready to get serious about my weight loss. My goal is to force my self into good choices and the routine of working out by trying to lose 10 lbs (a Turkey!) by Thanksgiving. I am currently 230lbs. and i am not sure what my calorie goal should be or how often I should work out. I would love to hear anyone suggestions and tips on how they kicked of their weight loss and maintained the habits that have helped them.
