Anyone from Reading, PA?

Going to be in Reading for a few days, first time in the USA, later this month and I'm after any help regarding a couple of places to eat, or somewhere to go visit while I'm there. I'm travelling alone so not looking for fancy restaurants, a typical American diner type place would be fab?

I'd love to be from there.

    I'm near...

It depends on what you like to see, how much you are willing to drive, what dates, and what part of the city you will be in.

Lots of good bar and grill places. Old, railroad town. Some good shopping. A few places near for concerts, and a few casinos not too far away in the Philadelphia and Allentown area.

if you were from there, you'd say it that way... which, unfortunately, kills the joke.
  • won't be driving, so within cab distance, area 19610 if that helps.
shopping, coffee, watch the world go, nothing so big as a concert or casino lol, frightening enough travelling alone so far, let alone going off to a concert.

If I only had $1 for every time I have heard this one...

Vanity Fair shopping and the Berkshire Mall are close. You will be in the Wyomissing area, which is primarily residential. Nice, but many homes. What's nice about this area is that you are only an hour drive away from most everything and everywhere (Philadelphia, Jersey Shore, NYC is a little further). Problem for you is you need a vehicle. Thanksgiving is coming up, places are gearing up for the holiday season. Big parades depending on when you will be in town. If adventurous, you can visit the Amish/Mennonite communities in Lancaster...good shopping and PA Dutch food there.
  • Thanks for your help BDR - I'll look into the malls!
