I think people are confusing the two events.

MOvember is for Men Testicular cancer awareness.

No Shave November (Noshember) is for lazy students, men and women who just don't shave all month.

Up here in Canada, Movember was to raise funds and awareness of prostate cancer. It has since come out that the funds had been diverted away from prostate cancer research and to other areas supposedly involving "men's health" while still telling the public it was going to prostate cancer research. As we still have to pay out of pocket for my husband's blood tests to detect prostate cancer, and the above deception, we no longer take part in Movember. Seeing how it has been hijacked by people who simply don't want to shave gives us even more reason not to participate. My father in law had prostate cancer so it's a touchy subject for us.
