    Purleeeesee? ;)
  • Spec wise they are about the same. They both seem like no name brands so neither is really any better than the other

Ha! Yeah, I can't afford a named tablet...

There's always secret option C - recommend me a tablet that fits the spec - 10 inch, around the £100 to £130 mark...

I'd skip both and get the Google Nexus 7.

I have the 10 now - but the 7 was completely fine (my wife wanted one - so I bought 10 and let her have my beloved 7 - it was probably a mistake).

I am prone to a lot of buyer's remorse and second guess about every purchase I make - I've never regretted my Google tablets.

B&N nook HD+... I looked and in the UK it's a £129 10" tablet and you get access to the google play store. I like mine a lot.

came in here to say THIS.

got one about 4 months ago and i LOVE it.
it may not out-spec some of the higher end tabs, but throw a 3rd party launcher on it (i use go launcher), and youve got yourself a damn good ~10", 16GB, high-res (great pixel density) android tablet.
i use mine to stream music from multiple sources, videos, surf the web, read...anything i can do with my SGS3 i feel i can do with my nook...EXCEPT take pics. there are NO cameras on it...so if you want video chat, skip it. there is also no GPS chip in it, so if youre looking for it to function as a gps count that out.

fun little tidbit that the guy at B&N enjoyed telling me...

on the nook you can install kindle app, but you cant install the nook app on kindle...
so if you have books on kindle, dont be swayed because this is a B&N branded device.

Tesco are selling off the Nexus 7 2012 for £145 at the moment, worth it.
  • I am selling mine. Hardly used ASUS Infinity.

this guy is cool, he has all the same gadgets I do except he's better at selling them! I forgot to mention the kindle app angle, I have both and read both types of books.

fun fact: this and many of my other posts were sent from my nook.

    Thanks for the tips all.

So if you had to pick between the 2:

One has a quad core gpu for graphics, but the other has a 1.3mp front camera for Skype etc (vs 0.3 for the other).

I think I'll go for the zoo storm of the two, but I'll check out the nook in the meantime. I'd take a nexus 10, but I really want a 10" so nexus 7 won't work.

I actually have a proper e-ink kindle which I'll never give up - love it! So no issue with reading kindle Ebooks :)

Oooohhh... The nook HD+ is an attractive proposition!

No cameras though... It's not a dealbreaker by any stretch (I won't be out taking pictures with it), but it would be good to be able to video skype family abroad from it.

No bluetooth either which is a kicker...

Drat you MFP... I was all set to buy a Zoo Storm and now I'm back to deliberating over if I really need a camera or Bluetooth in a tablet...

Reminds me of the time I got my first iPhone and thought 'do I really need the latest 4S? Naah, the 3G will be fine'

I don't know if the UK product is different, but I'm fairly confident the nook does have bluetooth. I haven't used it on mine as the only thing I use bluetooth for is when I'm in the car (phone syncs to my radio).

The cameras in the tablets you're considering are going to be low quality at best. I don't miss the camera at all on the nook as I have a samsung galaxy s4 for photos and a lenovo laptop with an hd webcam for skype. If it's something you really can't do without though the nook probably isn't the best choice.

I have the Kindle Fire 2nd generation and love it. We also have an iPad and I much prefer my Kindle to that. The new Kindles look pretty sharp and the price seems fairly reasonable. I use mine for reading, surfing, e-mailing, music playback and watching movies. Love it.

    Good luck with your decision!

    Just to update y'all.

I got this one and it is SWEET!

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/UPGRADED-FUSION5-PREMIUM-QUADCO-TABLET/dp/B008YE4XW0/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

Works an absolute treat and pretty much takes anything you can throw at it.

    Cheers
