Hello everyone my name is Frank Chavez! I'm currently 17, soon to 18 in a few days. Most people hear of older folks using myfitnesspal but I think it's for any age really because I'd be so lost without it.
My weightloss journey started at the semi-end of my junior year of high school. I started out at 245 pounds. That doesnt seem like much, but to me now it's a huge change. Most people couldnt even notice at the time but now seeing the changes it shows. I just want to say that it wasn't easy. Our generation is highly influenced by so many sugary drinks, foods, candies, and other diabetic causing nightmares waiting to happen. It's a scary place sometimes when you're stuck between a 100 calorie snack and a package of Oreos, which one should I choose? You know? It gets difficult.
I manage to keep the faith, stay strong and think, "I want to be healthier! I want to just feel better and not lazy!!". My mother was 550 pounds when she gave birth to me in 1995. Unfortunately she had to under go a gastric bypass surgery in the year 2000 because there was no hope of losing the weight any other way. She wanted to do it for her kids, to be a fit mom for her children.
It caused many health problems down the road and ultimately she ended up passing away at age 45 in November 2011 due to a blood clot in one of her major arteries. She's always motivated me not to make the same mistakes she's made when it came to eating perfusely and not taking care of your body the right way.
So having that in mind I knew I had to buckle down! I didn't want to keep living my life this way, nor is this what my mom would have wanted for me. I used to eat 2nd and 3rd helpings of dinner... Gosh it was bad, I could never manage that now. I wouldnt even walk any further than to the mailbox and back and in school without sweating. Gross right?
I first started off by eating less, it wasn't easy! We all know that. I lost a few pounds that way but it was confusing, it was tough and unorganized.
A friend showed me MYFITNESSPAL, best day of my life because I felt so organized knowing exactly what and how much I was putting into my body. It really gave me a reality check and opened my eyes to the truth. Then, I started walking each night or every other night for 2-35 minutes to an hour at times depending on how much i over ate that day, and I burned off anything over my limit the best that I could. It's great how this app keeps you updated with your body.
So through prayer and more dedication to changing my lifestyle I've lost over 66 pounds! I owe it all to God and this app ofcourse! Never give up, keep the faith, fight the good fight, you CAN OVERCOME ANYTHING! There's nothing our God can't handle that's too big or too small. Weight wise or not, he's got your back.
Have a nice night and the best of luck to you all on your journies!
