  • So I love anime! I have been on a Fairy Tail marathon, but looking for something new to watch. I watched all the ones on Netflix.
I am currently restricted to what I can watch on Netflix and Hulu.

    I have watched:
    Gantz
    Black Butler
    Deathnote
    Fruits Basket
    Spice and Wolf
Fairy Tail ( as I mentioned)
    okami-san and her seven companions
    Cowboy Bebop
    shakugan no shana

And a bunch more, but these I really love. Any suggestions?

    Sword art online
    Soul eater
    Ao no exorcist (blue exorcist)
i've heard DN angel is good
Kimi Ni todoke or lovely complex (if you like cutesy slice of life animes)
Full metal alchemist brotherhood ( i didn't like FMA at all. I liked FMAB..)

i can't think of any more right now, but if i do, i'll comment more.

    edit:
    durarara!!
vampire knight (and vampire knight guilty)
    Elfen lied
    Inyuasha
OHSHC (ouran high school host club. i loved it)
    The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

I love the artistic style of Trinity Blood. It's better - imnsho - in Japanese than dubbed.

I should specify that I'm not an anime fan; I watched Speed Racer as a kid, saw Akira, and can otherwise take or leave most anime. I'll watch Trinity Blood over and over, though.

    Bump for ideas....

I have a rather large collection of anime and just picked up one I hadn't heard of... Blood-C: The Last Dark. I found it at Best Buy of all places.... But one of my very favorites that I didn't see here was Witch Hunter Robin.

I tend to love the soul-wrenching films & series. Grave of the Fireflies comes with me in the case of a natural disaster. So is my complete copy of the StarBlazers series that took me 15 years to find. David was my very first crush when I was a little girl.

And also - Ghost in the Shell: Second Gig.

Though, for sheer silly, I've been watching IGPX on Adult Swim.

ETA: One more that may or may not qualify, but I don't care - it remains one of my favorite things EVER in the history of television: Shin Chan.

How has Studio Ghibli not made it onto this list yet?

ETA: Just noticed mention of Grave of the Fireflies by my good friend.

Well, I absolutely loved soul eater. I think that's my favorite. High school of the dead was a cool idea too.

    High school of the dead:heart:
  • I have so many I have loved but here are the best, and I'm a real animehead. This really depends upon personal preferences but I would suggest the following:

    Thinking / weird type animes:
    Tekkon Kinkreet (movie)
    Big O
Eden of the East (short series / two movies)
    Ghost in the Shell
    blood+
    fulmetal alchemist (original and brotherhood)

    action based:
    naruto
    bleach
    dragonball
    afro samurai
    Rurouni Kenshin
    Samurai 7
    samurai champloo
    samurai deeperr kyyo

I don't know if you've seen Ranma 1/2, but that's really funny. Case Closed is awesome. You should check out funimation.com.

Not really considered Anime but Afro Samurai deserves mention, so does Gotham Knight.
  • I've also seen the ones you listed. Here are some that I like/recommend:

Puella Magi Madoka Magica -- my ALL time fav! I even bought the DVD. AMAZING story and action sequences, though the first two episodes were kind of weird or slow the first time I watched. Make it at least to the 3rd before passing it up.
Ao no Exorsist -- was my all time fav for the longest time. Amazing story.
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood -- I absolutely love, too. Just. Watch. It.
Soul Eater -- a little long (~56 episodes), but had some entertaining moments
Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok -- humorous and involves magic/mythology. I really recommend!
Code: Breaker -- A little more dark in nature. It's alright. Had some cool concepts
Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan -- Also kind of long, but it was enjoyable. Good for passing time.

Not watched but recommended to me:
    Bleach
Darker than Black -- dark, gory, mystery. I saw a few episodes and like what I saw.

A little on the weirder side (cough cough, ecchi) :
A dark rabbit has seven lives
    Shuffle

All of these were from either Hulu free or Crunchy roll, both of which I trust.

I'm sure some of these have been mentioned already, but here's an unsorted list of anime that I've thoroughly enjoyed over the years:
    Sekirei
    Naruto (both)
    Yu Yu Hakusho
Dragonball and Dragonball Z (but not GT, *gag*)
    Cowboy Bebop
    Samurai Champloo
    Tenchi Muyo
    Chobits
    Outlaw Star
    Inuyasha
    Michiko To Hatchin
    Demon King Daimon
    Star Blazers (Battleship Yamato)
    Shin Chan
    Girls Bravo
    Afro Samurai
    Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple
    Excel Saga
    Desert Punk
    Sacred Blacksmith
    Ninja Nonsense

These last two aren't true anime, but are heavily influenced by it and excellent by their own rights:
Avatar - The Last Airbender (M. Night 'Sham-Wow' movie adaptation was HORRIBLE!)
Avatar - The Legend of Korra
