Another HRM Question

I have a Polar FT7 that I use and love it. My question is about wearing it for extended activity such as an all day hike. Is the total it lists just for the activity or do they include what I would have burned sitting around doing nothing?

Subtract your BMR for the time period by the output of the HRM if you're really concerned with over eating your exercise calories back.0

Just hiking around probably won't get your HR up enough for the HRM to be useful anyway. Generally speaking your HR needs to be at least 50% of your max HR or it's not really effective.0

Maybe you and I hike differently. My heart rate is definitely up when I hike the hills for four hours.0 -

HRM's are measuring total calories burned by like a previous poster said your heart rate needs to be significantly raised for the entire time for it to be accurate. If you take breaks you'll want to pause your HRM.0
