My friend did Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred she did it twice and lost about 40lbs she is looking to do something different she tried a few workouts from insanity but it wasn't for her. She is looking at Tapout Xt I said I'd ask on here for some help.
She is looking to lose 20 more pounds.
But she is wondering if it is any good? And how does it compare if anyone knows to the 30 day shred?
Also will it hit the core good?

I did Tapout XT earlier this year, it will definitely hit the core. It's a different level from the 30 Day Shred but not as intense as Insanity, I think she'll enjoy it if she's into MMA, it's basically designed around MMA fighters and how they supposedly train. It does have a lot of push ups and plank work however.
The workouts are quite long, for the most part lasting from 45 to 60 minutes so if she doesn't have a lot of time to workout, it might not fight into her schedule.
It definitely worked for me however, I usually have a short attention span when it comes to workout programs but this one kept my interest with it's variety of workouts. Without eating totally clean I still lost 7 pounds and several inches but then I didn't have that much weight to lose at that point so your friend may well lose nearly 20 pounds over the three months if she follows a healthy eating plan.
If she can, tell her to have a look at a few videos on youtube if she hasn't already to see what the workouts are like and if it's a challenge she'd be willing to take. It'll be hard but it'll be worth it!0 -
I'm doing Tapout XT at the moment (started week 7 yesterday) and the change is amazing!!! It requires you to take your focus a bit away from the "scale weightloss" and turn it to the inches instead. Not that you will not lose weight - you will! But your body will transform - you will build muscle which weighs more than fat! More muscle means a greater daily burn, which in turn (If you manage your eating) means greater weightloss!
Tapout has a lot of core - and I do mean A LOT! But in a good way because it's fun!
I've never been good at doing the whole fitness routine, but with Tapout I'm all in! I really renommend it! In fact I'm waiting for Tapout XT2 to come in the mail so I can continue my workout once I've finished XT! It's just that good!0 -
I started Tapout XT today. I am following the meal plan. I was hoping that myfitnesspal had the recipes & workouts in the database. Can anyone give me some advise, especially with how many calories I am burning on average with each workout. I have no idea..... I can manage with the meal plans, it will just be hard work setting them up from scratch. Any advise would be appreciated.0

I have been wanting to try this. I like those types of workouts. I saw it half off at Target a few months ago and was so tempted to get it!! I didn't though because I thought it would be hard on my joints, which have been giving me a lot of problems.0

I am on my third round of Tapout XT, and just got the second TapOut and will be starting that soon. I love Tapout. I would recommend you get a heart rate monitor to measure your calorie expenditure. Everyone works at a different level of intensity. As you get stronger, you will find your intensity level will grow as well. Polar makes a heart rate monitor that will accurately measure your caloric burn for whatever it is you are doing while you wear it.0 -
Maybe you could shorten the workouts in half. I'm wondering if there will be a Tapout XT3 with 20 or 30 min workouts?0

this would be a great idea, i couldn't hang with xt2 cause they're too long and i had to stop to avoid mental/physical burnout....so i started alternating with xt1 workouts, which is a nice balance.0
