"Weight of the Nation" is the best documentary about the obesity epidemic. What shocked me the most was the rising obesity in children. I did not know it was as bad as it is. Everyone should watch this documentary.

Since I've cut way back on processed sugars, my favorite food is apples. I know it's the sugar in apples that makes me like them but the sugar comes with healthy fiber and high water content.

I watched the first part of that documentary in a nutrition class. It's heavy on numbers, but fairly interesting.

"Food, Inc." is another documentary, not necessarily about obesity and nutrition but about industrial agriculture and food production, that I watched for a class and thought was really informative and eye-opening about a number of issues related to nutrition and health.

I've seen a number of documentaries that cover how we've been conditioned by the food industry to overeat. They are killing millions and getting away with it. They know what they are doing but won't stop as long as they continue to make money.

It's shameful that our government has not stepped in and put a stop to this.

Many people will say that what we eat is a matter of personal choice and that individuals are responsible for their own behavior. It's more complicated than that. It is extremely difficult to avoid unhealthy foods when it is all around us and the society we are in contributes to the problem.
