My first weigh-in was a great 273 lbs on 10/25 .. On 10/30 I weighed in at 263 .. So a great 10 lb loss in 5 days.. But after those 5 days my loss is only 12 oz in 3 days .. My question is if this is normal? Nothing really different with what I'm eating. I'm not exercising just yet. I've cut off rice, pasta, bread, chips, sugary drinks-snacks.. I'm not counting calories just watching what and how much I eat.
I would love for more opinions as to what I'm doing wrong or if I'm still doing alright.. I believe I should be losing more at this size..
Any insight/ideas/experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, it's not linear. Sometimes you will gain water weight too. It's ok, as long as you stick to your goal you won't gain fat... just keep going. It's extremely frustrating though!0

dont worry.. I didn't lose ANY weight for two weeks and yesterday I lost a kilo. I drank a load of water and I think period have something to do with water retention. I bought a camel bak water bottle and it holds almost a liter and i drink a lot of water with it. it's a good investment.0

You can't really make decisions based on a three-day trend. That said, 12 oz in 3 days (what kind of scale do you have that provides that kind of accuracy, anyway??), is 28 oz, or 1 3/4 pounds, per week. 1 3/4 pounds per week is not a plateau. 1 3/4 pounds per week is happy-happy, go-celebrate-with-a-non-food-treat weight loss.
Yes, at your size you could maybe lose a bit more per week, but with so little information provided, and without your tracking calories, I don't know what we can tell you.
And those first 10 lbs? A lot of it was water weight. It does slow down after that.
You don't indicate your gender and age, but if that's you in your profile picture, you should be aware that hormonal changes throughout the month will affect a woman's rate of weight loss. You might be at a caloric deficit for the week but not lose, or even gain, but as you move through your cycle, you might drop a large amount, then go back to a more moderate weight loss, until you hit the point where you stall again.0 -
I really hate counting calories that's why I haven't started counting yet but I know I haven't ever passed 1500 as a rough count. I am 22 female. 5'7.. Can being way less than your needed calories slow weight loss down? Oh and I do use a weight watchers scale. I do weigh-in same time every morning.
Will water weight make you lose inches?0 -
Sorry don't know how to edit.. I've been off my period for 2-3 weeks now0

Thanks meanie!! FYI I'm serious about this. I just don't believe in actual calorie counting. I'm more focused on serving sizes and the actual REAL food I'm putting in my body. Just because a slice of pizza is (for ex 400 calories) I'm not putting it in my body. I'm more focused on eating a healthy diet without unprocessed junk. Trying to get in chicken, seafood, vegetables, and fruits. I don't believe calorie counting will work for me because even if I do get my to my goal one day. I don't think I can be obssesed with counting calories for the rest of my life. This is what I think will work for me and you might think otherwise. Don't go putting people down just because they aren't doing this the way you do.0

Borrow someone's food scale. Commit to weighing and logging all of your foods for a month. What have you got to lose?
I was very skeptical about it also. I didn't really believe it would help me. The first week I saw the scale move down and it's been moving down ever since (diet breaks excepted).
It takes a few seconds per meal and after a few days becomes automatic. You don't really know how many calories you're taking in otherwise.0 -

Exactly. And it's not like you have to carry a notepad around, like in the old days. People can keep track of their calories on their electronic devices. My daily logging takes me five minutes, tops. Most people don't have such a varied diet that they have to create unique recipes logs for every meal. Once you've created all your usual meals, it's just a quick selection process.0
