Hi,
I've gained about 5 lbs oveer the year and I've moved to a new country. It's really hard for me to lose the weight because I'm not very happy where I am and I don't cook often. I want to be motivated but I don't even know where to start. I am filling a void by eating junk food. Lately, ive been eating lots of chips and kfc since its down the street from my house and very conveniant. Everything here is far away so if i dont have food in my house i end up going there. I don't know what to do but i wana stop now before it gets out of hand. Tips?

Not trying to sound mean here, but;
Stop being lazy, go to the grocery store, buy food. Weigh your portions on a food scale and cook them. Eat in a calorie deficit. Log all the food you eat on MFP.
Stop going to KFC so much. You can still have it, but you need to look at their nutrition facts and find foods that will fit in your calorie goal.0 -

This. You know the problem, you listed it in your OP. None of us can stock your pantry, cook for you, or make you cut back on junk food. You have to do that yourself.0 -
You sound so overwhelmed! You already know where to start, and that's right here.
I don't know what your daily calorie goal is, or whether you use the one given to you by MFP or if you do the whole TDEE-x% deal, but either way, to loose weight, you need to aim to eat at a deficit. The MFP calorie goal has a deficit built in already. I've found that the following works:
1) measure all of your food, eyeballing portions is difficult. Buy a digital scale and weigh as much of your food as you can.
2) if you can keep junk food out of your house, do so. You will be more tempted to eat chips if you can see them in your cupboard. Instead, stock up on healthy foods - lean meats, fruit, veggies, and whole grains. I'm also a huge fan of cheese, Greek yogurt and skim milk. An advantage to these foods is that you'll feel full longer on less calories [than in junk food].
3) plan your meals in advance; if you know what you're going to eat later, you will be less likely to make spontaneous, not so healthy choices. This includes Fast Food. There's nothing wrong with having KFC now and then, as long as you keep track of the calories and they fit into your day.
4) Move more - not only will your body's health improve, but you will get more calories to eat in the run of a day
5) Log everything. Be honest with yourself.

I hope some of this helps and that you feel less lost. Also, check out other people's posts on these boards for more inspiration.0 -
Hi,
it's your choice what you want to put into your body. However, keep in mind that places like KFC have many more calorie than a home cooked meal.
I hate to cook, absolutely hate it, but I do it. Every Sunday I do big shopping so I have enough for the week. I get my fresh vegetables every few days or I make enough to last the week. Fresh non-processed foods taste so much better and are so much better for you. Trust me, when you make your own meals, boing out to lunch of dinner is a treat.0 -
i made lentils and fish today and had salad. i feel so much better!!0
