I'm not sure if I have an eating disorder. I constantly eat out of boredom even if I'm not hungry. I was thinking of trying hypnotherapy to help with this issue and try and focus on other things before food. A friend of mine saw a hypnotist and was able to quit smoking so I may try this.

Has anyone ever done this?

Did you see one? I was just looking online to find an MP3.

I am the same, constantly eating when no hungry and can't seem to get out of the habit of eating the wrong foods on the weekend.

I had hypnotherapy for a 'hypno gastric band' and it has worked really well for me. Not only did I lose weight, but I started running which is something that I have secretly wanted to do for a long time. I started learning to run on Jan 3 this year, at which point I thought I was going to die each time I had to run for 60 seconds and now I run for up to 90 mins/11km at a time and am doing a half marathon in September. I no longer emotionally eat, except maybe a handful of times in the last 8 months. Make sure you go with an app or hypnotherapist with good reviews.

A friend that I work with had phenomenal success with this. Not sure how much she lost because she wasn't allowed to weigh herself as part of it, but several sizes and my guess is about 50lbs.

The program was 4 x weekly visits and then a follow up a month later and I listened to a recording that my hypnotherapist had made at least once a day during that period.

She actually called me one day recently when I was having a huge crisis of confidence before a run that I was doing and by the time I got off the phone I was ready to kick some butt :)

If there was a person with the ability to plant subconcious directives in my brain that would without my influence or control drastically alter my behavior then I would stay as far away from that person as I possibly could.

I went twice to a very expensive hypnotherapist, and I don't think it worked for me at all. The first time maybe a little... the first time I'm pretty sure I'm had a pricy hour long nap on his couch while he listened to himself talk. Obviously different things work for different people, but it wasn't for me!

No, i never did. However, if you think you have an eating disorder, you need professional help from someone who specializes in that area. I don't know whether they would refer you to a hypnotherapist or not.

I had a 'hypno gastric band' fitted, it wasn't just regular weight loss hypnotherapy. I had also been to many therapists re my disordered eating, without success. Different strokes for different folks, but I'm happy I did it and my life is so much better for it :)

eta and I was aware of what she was doing on the phone ;)

sounds good to me. Why are people afraid to try new things when it can work?
