How much does it help? I have a small one that was given to me, and I thought since I am going to be adding in more weight training that it wouldn't be a bad idea to start using it. How do you use it? What sort of improvements have you seen?

it doesn't hurt any more than a massage0 -
I used a foam roller during my Arrosti therapy treatments after a car accident. I am sold on their benefits and consider it an integral part of my fitness.0

I started using an 18" Tiger Tail roller after a calf muscle tear. It's been very helpful to keep it from turning into a tight little knot as it heals. Additionally use it for rolling over the back of my neck and shoulders. Also, it makes it much easier for your spouse/significant other to give you a back massage. :P0

Hehe might have to make him use it as well I never do massages anymore a bit of a oversight I think lol0

It's a good kind of hurt. Like a deep tissue massage. The next day you'll be glad you did it. especially if you get really bad DOMS after your workouts0 -
yes- foam roller- yes.
Wine bottle when that gets too beat up.0 -
I love love love foam rollers. The firm, black ones from OPTP are my favorite. They really release the muscles for me. I've noticed that when I use one before ballet class, my turnout is much better and my extensions are higher0
