Allow me to vent:
Why, oh why do people go to the ER, get advise from a doctor then go home and search the internet for a better answer then do what the internet says only to wind up in a different ER the next day for the same thing and the making worse of the original thing that took them to the first ER in the first place? GRRR  :explode:
That is all. Cary on.

I hear you. I can spend 20 minutes discussing the importance of a certain vaccine or nutrition for pets but my clients will 80% of the time listen to what the breeder or staff at the pet store told them instead....0

Because,....everything on the Internet is true.0

That means this is a true statement.0 -
Google is terrible thing at times.
Although so are some ER doctors. My family Dr. has lit up a few of them after a couple visits I've had over the past years.0 -

My boyfriend is one of those idiots that works at a pet store and now thinks that he knows everything about pets. Of course, he did bring home a sugar glider and knew nothing about them. It's so annoying!0 -
Well it's hard to say without knowing specifics. Ordinarily Drs are right.....but I can't say my last dr appt went well. I've had the same problem for years and asked a couple different drs. They all go for the obvious, easy answer....which just so happens to NOT be the problem. Of course I now have a fresh $200 bill for labs that show that it wasn't the obvious, easy answer0

True, true...no one can know exactly what goes through a person's head, but seriously...don't even try what the doctor says and believe you with your 5th grade education are smarter than the doctor since you pay for internet and can sort of read?!? Then to come back again with chemical burns since you put yourself in a bath of bleach water to cure your "bugs".
Yeah...I love my job.0 -
ok, wow. Well, bleach bath isn't in any of my self-heal thoughts lol:laugh:0

Doctors ar not infallible. In fact, most large Medical facilities follow a protocol. It starts by recommending the most common and least expensive treatment; whether it be therapy and/or prescritions.
If that doesn't work, they move to the next treatment. And so on and so on.
Someone that has some self-awareness and a little education can, in fact, narrow the possiblities by doing a little research via internet or literature.
To blanketly condemn or malign someone for doing this research is an obvious over-reaction.0 -

Probably because the first ER doctor was a woman. I'll take the interwebs' advice over a woman doctor's every time.0

Probably the same reason people get advice from medical professionals on other things, like weight loss, and then ignore it when they hear of something else on the internet.0

I don't ask a Doctor!
I just call my mommy....she's always right.0 -

I hear you!
I get aggravated at the people who will go to the Dr, get their Rx filled but then not take it as prescribed, or not go to physical therapy, not do the exercise, etc - and then complain that the Dr doesn't know what they're talking about. Sheesh!
My next favorite are the people who don't want to take Rx medications because they don't want all those chemicals in their bodies, and then in the next sentence talk about all the 'recreational' drugs they take. :noway:0
