I up my intake and my exercise goal gets higher
but when I reach my goal they say I need more calories
I think I'm missing something

the daily calorie intake they say assumes you are not exercising at all. There is already a deficit built into that number. Your daily intake is including a deficit to give you weight loss. If you want to exercise for health benefits or other reasons, you should eat more. That is why it increases your intake for the day if you exercise. Why? Because undereating too much (overexercise, undereat) is unhealthy for your body and organs.
e.g. daily intake 1400 calories. I exercise and burn 300 calories. So I should be eating 1700 calories today.0
