How do I get rid of this puffiness??

So I ate so much popcorn at the movie theatre last night that I am swollen today. My face and tummy are bloated and puffy and I am thinking it may be due to the salt..I had so much I didnt even log it :( I was thinking of skipping my coffee and detoxing today with just Green Tea until lunch and then eating something light. Any suggestions on how to get rid of puffiness and bloat?

Drink a hell of a lot of water and green tea, sounds like you're retaining water. :) I could be wrong, but caffeine is a diuretic so surely the coffee would be good for, er, flushing you out? Limit your salt intake today and just keep drinking. I also find that, even if I feel horrible, exercise helps me to feel a bit better about myself when I'm bloated. Good luck.

I'd love to know this too. I have so much trouble with bloating because I eat a ton of sodium (damn soup, y u so good?) and lots of beans. (damn beans, y u so delicious?) I retain water pretty often and I'm tired of being asked if I'm pregnant. -_-

Hmmm, not an expert, but if your face is "bloated" I would think that's an allergic reaction to something. Keep an eye on that...

I also don't think it's 100% necessary to "detox" yourself because of the mass amounts of popcorn you ate, but eating a bit lighter because your stomach still feels heavy from last night makes sense and would probably be a good method to deal with that until you feel "regular" hungry later in the day (I'll often have a smaller breakfast the morning after I had an extremely large meal, because I can still feel it in my stomach, but by the afternoon I'm back to feeling just as hungry as usual without the bloat).

Drink lots of water - my first assumption is salt also. The water should help with that perfectly and flush you out by tomorrow/later today.
  • definitely drink lots of water and stay away from anything high in sodium and salt-
green tea is an awesome choice. I drink 2 cups (morning and afternoon) when I am feeling bloated.
my face also gets puffy depending on what I eat or how much, so I know how you must be feeling right now! :P

but yeah, I would just focus on eating really clean today and keeping yourself hydrated.
The bloating and swollen feeling should go away in a day.

Water, time, and if possible eat potassium rich foods. As water retention has to do with the sodium/potassium balance in your body

Potassium is the mineral that will help you excrete sodium. Go eat a banana. I use mortons light salt...1/2 potassium, 1/2 sodium. And for the love of batman, soup lovers. Get a crockpot and make your own soup and beans.
