Bio Oil

What are peoples opinions on Bio Oil? I personally think it works quite well on stretch marks, helping them fade considerably. What about everyone else?

  • I have always wondered about it but never tried it. I think I am going to give it a try though.

I used it along with cocoa butter when I was pregnant. I never did get stretch marks but I can't say it's that what helped. In any case I liked the smell so it was nice.

Swore by it when pregnant and didn't get stretch marks until I was 10 day's late! And still only got 3. I wish I had this stuff at puberty

I swear by that stuff! It is truly amazing and honestly think it is what helped keep my stretch marks at bay with my first pregnancy (I didn't use it this time around, and guess what I got???).

Is it only preventative or does it help after stretch marks are already there? For example example, let's say someone were to balloon up to 382 pounds and then drop to 259?

It seems to be helping my stretch marks that are already there.
  • Didn't work for me to improve scar/stretch mark appearance however did moistureize my skin nicely!

    Bio Oil. NICE ingredients!

I used it after my knee surgery on my 6 1/2 inch scar. It healed very nicely and is very faint. I tried Mederma. However, I liked the Bio Oil MUCH better.

In regard to stretch marks? IDK. My thought would be: Moisturizing is never a bad thing. Applying the oil to new scars (and that includes stretch marks) would probably yield better results than applying it ( or any such product) to old, healed scars.
  • Bio oil  I find it helps hydrate and encourage skin to improve firmness during weight loss, no change in the scar on my knee yet!
  • used it during pregnancy...no stretch marks! i also like the feel of it for dry skin in general. not sure how it does on existing stretch marks or scars.

Agree. I had/have many stretch marks everywhere. Using bio oil and good moisturizer has really helped with fading and minimizing. My sister also used bio oil throughout both her pregnancies and has absolutely no stretch marks. Wish I had known about it when I was pregnant.
