Hi Newbie here...:)

I have tried every diet under the sun to get rid of the stone I put on from quitting smoking four years ago. I quit a 20 a day habit which span over 20 years but I found that i replaced the nicotine for food.. Chocolate, lattes, muffins.. You could say I found a very sweet tooth!
I have literally tried every diet under the sun since 2009. I eat, breath and sleep diets. The problem is that whilst I start off with the best intentions, my love for entertaining , socialising and food gives in. I will start a diet on Monday, stick to it religiously but by Friday it will be forgotten about..I will end up having the weekend off with the mentality to be extra strict with myself come Monday where I will start afresh. I have counted WW points, calories, syns, 5:2 fasting and more recently counted carbs. The most success I had was counting carbs because that seemed to reign in my mindless snacking, but I would find it hard to stick to and longed to eat the same foods as the rest of the family.
I spent some time reading the posts on the forum on here ( as I was about to embark on my new diet starting today which involved the raw food diet) and the truth hit me in the face. I read a post from a girl from a while ago saying don't over complicate things. You don't have to be on a specific diet and eliminate anything.. Just create a calorie deficit.
So here I am. I think I may have a tendency to under count my portions and calories but I am going to try and get into a habit of logging everything. For that reason I have set my calorie limit quite low at 1200 a day and I won't factor in my exercise.
In the past, I would get a bit obsessive about the scales ..jumping on them every morning and getting frustrated at the reading. kicking them around the bathroom would give different readings and so the frustration continued. I have decided to weigh in once a fortnight instead.
Wish me luck!!! Here is to finally losing that stone after so long!! Please add me to keep me accountable and I will do the same with you.

It is not luck, it is making the committment to lose the weight and stick withthe lifestyle change.
Make sure you have a scale for you food--weigh it. That way youknow how many calories.
Portion control!!
