Hi I've lost around 126-130+ pounds in a little under a year. I'm not sure of my actual weight when I started, but knew it was over 300+ pounds. What I did before I joined myfitnesspal was try to eat smaller portions & start with low impact exercise like riding the stationary bike for 10-30 minutes, Wii Fit exercises like Free Step or the jogging game, Zumba for the Wii (I have no rhythm, but it's a fun game), or walk on the treadmill.

With food I tried to incorporate more vegetables & fruits in my diet experiment with foods I've never tried before or liked.

In February I hit a plateau around 250 pounds & joined myfitnesspal to track my calories. I've since lost around 75.5 pounds by tracking my calories & measuring almost all of my food on a food scale. I would suggest buying a food scale that measures in grams & ounces.

Well then, don't diet. Start small, make little changes (slowly decrease the amount of calories you eat a day and slowly incorporate more exercising, even if it's just 10 - 20 minute walks daily). If it's too hard or too restricting you won't stick to it and to lose 100+ pounds you need to find something you can stick with. Analyze your diet and see if there's anything you can either cut down/or cut out.

I recommend you going online and finding your BMR and TDEE. Net (amount after exercise) your calories somewhere between these numbers. 1200 or lower calories will be too low for you and won't be sustainable. Every 10lbs lost, reevaulate your calorie goal. This is a marathon not a race, faster isn't better.

Good Luck! It's a worth while road to take and you'll learn so much about yourself along the way!
