Looking for feedback on stronglifts program

Hi Everyone,
My boyfriend and I are starting the stronglifts program and I just wanted to hear what kind of results people have had from using it.
Neither of us are new to lifting, just looking to switch it up and lean out.
Any feedback, thoughts, advice appreciated!
Thank you!

Nothing special about the program (and there's nothing special about any other program actually, no matter how complicated, except for clever marketing). It's just the basics, and you're hitting everything in the program, as it should be. This is what makes it great: simple, using the fundamental lifts. No bs.
Your "results" come from what you do in the kitchen while you're on the program (like with any other program). If you eat at a deficit, you'll loose inches. If you eat maintenance... you'll maintain. If you eat at a surplus, you'll gain muscle with some fat.
Eating at a surplus is the only way to gain muscle at a rate that you will notice, and there is no way to gain muscle without gaining a little fat.
No, there's no other way to do it.
Great book: New Rules of Lifting for Women (applies exactly the same to men actually, our bodies work the same way)
Great link: http://www.niashanks.com/2012/07/30-rules-lift-like-a-girl-look-awesome/ (stick with Stronglifts)
Pro Tip: Don't rely on your boyfriend to get your own *kitten* into the gym. Do this for yourself, this is your routine, and let him join you if he's going to join you. This is about you, not doing something together. Otherwise, you're probably going to fail.0 -
From the program standpoint, it is pretty straightforward and basis. From what I've been reading on MFP, lots of people are using the program or some hybrid of it. Seems like the lifts the program uses are the best "Bang for the buck" workout, but there leaves some room for improvement if you're looking to address individual muscle groups.
I've been using Strong Lifts with my roommate since May or so. I was a bit skeptical are first as we were in and out of the gym in under and hour without feeling like I got much of a work out in. As the weights started getting higher to were I'm either failing, or are essentially maxing out, I've really come to enjoy the program much more.
If you're new to lifting, find someone who can show you the proper technique before you start adding more weight otherwise you'll just open yourself up to injury which is going to keep you from being able to work out at all.
I like the suggestion above to do this for yourself. Set your own goals, and stick to your plan. Motivate each other to get yourselves into the gym, but don't make that a requirement that you both have to go together.
Good luck, and enjoy the program!0
