I generally do all of my Christmas shopping within the last two weeks before Christmas. It doesn't matter really because for 90% of the people I shop for, a gift card is the only suitable gift really, and for the rest you get better deals online than on any store in person.

I try to keep anything Christmas related out of my head until after Thanksgiving, otherwise the holiday itself starts to seem stupid and I get burned out on it too easily.
  • Started, but not finished. Hoping to do most of it online, which is what I did last year. Thank you , Amazon!

I am about 95% done. I have just a few little things to finish up. I would rather be done early and have it over with. I won't decorate or put my tree up until after Thanksgiving but hopefully will be able to have everything wrapped and ready to put under the tree by then.
  • Nope. I do all my shopping the day or two before Christmas:drinker:

Does anyone else feel like they're in that weird stage where everyone you know can buy anything they want for themselves anyway?

That might sound weird, but I'm a young adult (and everyone I know is a young adult or older) so it's not like you can get them a toy...if they want something, they just buy it themselves!

That's the reason my family and I probably won't exchange gifts although I will more than likely buy something for them because I like buying stuff and watching them open it.

Ok, so this is a bit off topic but I HATE the fact that my husband will NOT shop for his own family. Ever. If I don't get his family a gift then they don't get anything at all, but of course it's all my fault. (I know they blame me because one of his cousins who I trust very much said my MIL was complaining that "Lisa didn't get us anything." Really? How about blame your son if you don't get a gift! I buy for my family and he should buy for his.

    Rant over. Carry on.

Um yeah... I hate my boyfriend's family, so if it were up to me they would get a steaming box of ****.

   About 20 years ago when Dh and I were broke and living in a one bedroom apartment my MIL printed out (yes, she typed it up and printed it out for me) her Christmas list. I'll never forget the items on it...a ceiling fan, new stove, new dryer, and a crystal vase. WHAT? She didn't get any of those things from us needless to say!

Both my mother and father are the only people from their families who aren't extremely well off. So we just send them cards and don't actually shop for them. They understand. There's nothing they would want that we could afford to buy them anyway, and they know we're not as fortunate as they are.

This is where sentimental gifts come into play. Things that are priceless.

Aww! I agree--it's the best part of Christmas.
