YAY ME!!! I decided to finally do something about this extra weight......AGAIN! Kinda like the gazillion times I tried to quit smoking, I have tried and failed or tried and had little success and then failed over and over again. BUT...I finally figured out the trick this time for quiting smoking (I just don't want to smoke anymore). SO I am hoping that I finally figured it out for getting rid of this weight as well. For me...I think I just need to create the habit. I have created a habit of not being active. Now I need to create a habit of being active. I can get more advanced on what that habit looks like later and focusing harder on the eating later but for NOW. Create a habit of movement over the next 30 days is the challenge I have placed before myself. The trick is doing that without huring myself, getting bored or burning myself out. The brain needs to do the same thing everyday for 30 days to create a habit. I have decided that I am going to go to the gym everyday for 30 days. While I am there... move my body. SO....anyone have any suggestions on how to SLOOOOOOWLY (this old body hasn't moved in 20 years remember) go from a stroll to a full blown run and weight lifting training in 30 days?

Replacing one unhealthy habit with on healthy habit at a time helped me to lose the weight I did so you're RIGHT ON TRACK! Way to go!
You definitely need to go into the gym with a plan. You may want to start off just going for 20 or 30 minutes of cardio (or join some classes so you'll find a few things you like) and then build in some weight training after a week or two. Perhaps hire a trainer for a couple of sessions to get you a plan. There are also a ton of places online (Fitness Blender is one) where it'll help you to create a plan but none will help you as personally as a trainer if you can afford it.
If you're going EVERY day, don't overwhelm yourself. Maybe try doing 5 or 10 minutes on the treadmill, and then 5 or 10 minutes on the elliptical or stairmaster and work up from there in minutes.
Or, you can try doing the Couch to 5k plan on the treadmill if you want to start running. Just Google C25K plan and it'll give you a great introduction on how to start running!0
