Breaking News: Working abs and avoiding sugar gives you a flat stomach!
Does doing squats give you a flat butt too?!0 -
Just lay facedown on a flat surface. It will save you months of dieting!

Totally going to buy a pane of glass to strap to my body for the purpose of appearing to have a totally flat stomach. Now I can stop working out!!!0 -
Depends on your weight, especially your fat to muscle ratio. If it's out of proportion, then lipo is needed (quick way) or a lot of dedication in cardio to try and melt the fat off as well as the food you're eating (nutrition). It is never impossible to get a flat stomach. We were all born with it. We just chose to take a different route and either were force/persuaded ourselves over the years by stress/depression/parents to get where we are now. But if you're strong-willed, you can get there by cutting calories, doing cardio + weight training and you'll see a massive difference in a few months! if not a few weeks! (depends how you dedicated you are) - also depends on genetics but a lot of people out there have manage to beat their genetics.0
-
that depends. Are you the kind of person who is going to let the rude comments of one coworker dissuade you???0

Get extremely dedicated to what you eat. Eat alot but make sure to not take in sugars and work abs intense 3 to 4 days out fo the week. and RUN or SPRINT is even better. Leg raises and cable crunches. Just try to keep a tight stomach!
this is nonsense. I do none of these things and I have a flat stomach.
OP, reduce your body fat slowly. That is how.0 -

Come on, you know secretly, when no one is looking, that is exactly what you are doing.
That's what I do. **shhhh, don't tell anyone**:bigsmile:0 -
Depends on your definition of flat. Even if you check people with the hottest abs, turn them to the side and they are not flat. Abs stick out from your body.0

Dagnabbit! I thought nobody would know if I did that in my closet! All that effort for nothing. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to sprint in the closet?0 -
No, not impossible, but what is your definition of flat? I always have a tiny little pooch below my belly button unless I am about 15% body fat. Which right now, I am too lazy to maintain. You can see it in my profile pic.0
-
just reduce body fat by reducing calories. mine is coming along. not there quite yet. having to combine a lot of new exercises.
crunches, heavy bag, swimming, etc. but they key is losing body fat.

Sorry - you do not have a flat stomach. You have all those muscles... not flat.0 -
No, not impossible, but what is your definition of flat?
This, exactly this. People will have differing standards of what is "flat" enough. Obviously diet and exercise will help but not everyone's stomach is going to be the same. As I like to say regarding things like tummies, thighs, butts or other areas... do what you can, but try to come to terms with your natural build, too.
For some people, lipo probably is the only answer for them because they have the money and aren't interested in doing the kind of work involved with getting natural results. (and even with lipo, results are sketchy.)0 -

by tight tummy, do you mean like sucking it in? i heard that it helps in some way
Yea do it after your ab workout and suck it in real deep for a minute. And just try to keep it tight as much as you can it helps keep it flat. Also remember if you drink a lot of water you might just have water weight if your not doing really intense workouts that use the stored water.
True! Here's a link regarding that:

Sumo squats for a thigh gap!0 -
There are far too many variables at play here.
First: define flat.
For example, I know I've got some pretty good abs going, but you're right, they're still a bit difficult to see. Still.
Second: what was your starting point.
For example, if someone started out at 600lb, they might have some "skin" issues that are getting in the way.
Third: what are you eating that's still in the way?
Sugar? Wheat belly? McDonalds? Softserve?
Surgery is rarely the way ... if you have yet to fix the third point above, you're simply going to return to that state. On top of that, where's the sense of accomplishment when you have some quack vacuum it out, as opposed to working it off yourself. Yes - it takes dedication - but if you don't have the dedication take it off, you don't have the dedication to keep it off.
Finally, who are you "sculpting" for, and based on what model of "sculpted"...is it even realistic.0 -
Im a mom and i work hard for my flat abs.0

Ok so you never done a leg raise or a crunch. Have you used a pull - up bar or played any type of sport or any crossfit move or even use a bar for deadlift or related moves? If you have you have done a crunch. While in the weight gym you going to work your abs one way or another. I find it hard to believe you dont work them, and if you dont your not working your abs.0
