Try putting in USDA at the end of your search. That should get the "official" government word on the subject.
A lot of the things that I eat, I scan the bar code with my phone and add it to my diary that way. That's the official FDA word on that brand/food and it's done by averaging several hundred batches of the product.

My lcal farmer's market is closed for the season and I. miss it already.
  • This is what I do when user-submitted info is inaccurate.... click on the Database tab and search for the food you want to add to your Food Diary, then select an item from the Matching Foods list. The Nutrition Facts will be listed on the right side. Just above the Facts is a green EDIT box. Click on that and you'll be able to change any of the values (brand, description, serving size, calories, fat, protein, etc) to reflect the "correct" nutritional information per the Web. The next time you want to add this food to your Food Diary, it will be there!

I like Melissa's idea of putting "USDA" at the end of your search. So when I am editing the Nutrition Facts, I'll add "USDA" in the Food Description box before I click "save changes".
