Smoothies

Hi Pals,

My go-to breakfast smoothie has been:

6oz 100% apple juice
1 cup frozen fruit
Handful of spinach
1 Tablespoon Honey
1/2 banana

As delicious as it is.. I'm getting rather sick of it. What are some of your favorite recipes that are a little less fruity?

Honestly, I throw in any fruit (sometimes veg) in my fridge lol

I always add in frozen berries and at least a cup of spinach. Maybe you can add baby carrots, almond milk (gives a nuttier taste), grapes, or flax seed. I don't put bananas in because they are so thick and then i need to balance it with almond milk or juice (I have mango juice) but then it becomes too sweet.

One day I made a smoothie with just spinach, 2 pineapple slices, 1 navel orange and a handful of baby carrots. It was so good.

I'm curious what would happen if i added red peppers or something like that.

I don't have any that are less 'fruity' but I have a few that I like.

My go-to smoothie is typically 5 fresh strawberries, a handful of fresh blueberries, 5 unsweetened frozen strawberries, water, ice, and vanilla protein powder. I love coconut so I did try adding some coconut flavoring I had in the cabinet. I hope to try it with actual coconut and not some fake crap.

An orange, ice, vanilla protein powder and skim milk. Tastes a bit like a creamsicle. Orange juice could work too.

I've always wanted to try spinach in my smoothies but haven't yet.

I dunno if it wud be less fruity..but mine is the same as others.
2 strawberries, a handful of frozen three berry medley, half a green apple, 2 small chunks pineapple, a handful of spinach, a handful or more of either kales or power blend form earthhoouse ( it has kales, chard and a few other greens), all in tropicana 50 orange juice ( this particular one to reduce the calories). i sometimes add a few carrots, or a piece of beetroot...whateve ri see in the fridge basically.
If i have had a gud workout, i add some whey protien.

About a cup of frozen mango chunks, about 3/4 cup of greek yogurt, 1/3-1/2 cup of lite coconut milk, tablespoon of honey. I also like to add chia seeds for texture. Mango has a lighter fruit flavor.

    Heres another one!

    2 handfuls spinach-raw
    frozen banana
    2-3 frozen strawberries
    1 scoop of peanut butter
Milk if you want for a Ice cream smoothie type taste or just water for a healthy smoothie type taste. With water the peanut butter taste is more prominant.

    :)

I'm on a "pudding" kick.. but add some water or more milk or keifer and you've got a smoothie

    Base:

    Banana cheesecake:
1/2 c plain greek yogurt or cottage cheese
    1/4 oats (optional)
    1 scoop vanilla protein powder
    1 banana
.5 to 1 tbsp chai seeds
1-2 tbsp milk (so you can mix it) p
    1-2tbsp cheesecake jello mix dry

Mix and put in fridge for a bit.. The longer it's in the fridge the more like pudding it gets. :~) The magic of chai seeds!!

That's my base.. you can do different flavors of protein powder with different fruits or jams and omit or switch up the jello mix flavor.
I also like chocolate peanut butter protein powder with strawberry jam, I've also nixed the powder and used straight up PB
or strawberry powder with banana or chocolate with banana. I've done grapes with vanilla too.

The above can be done with or without oats and with cottage cheese or yogurt. I alternate. :~)

Add some keifer, more milk or water and put it in the blender for a smoothie. (i have not done this with oats though.. not sure how that would end up??)

I have this for breakfast.. It's like dessert for breakfast.. heaven...mmmm

I want to try it with dragon fruit and mango. but unsure of which flavor protein powder would pair the best with it..
