Does anyone have any good recipes for homemade stir fry sauces that are low in calorie? We love stir fries but find that a lot of the calories are in the sauces so I'd love to make my own. I'm in the UK so don't have access to all the US sauce options so I'd like to be able to make them from scratch (obviously using staple basics like soy sauce)

Thanks!!

Braggs Amino Acids, onion and garlic mixed together.
  • Anything will do, really...it's how you combine them that counts. Sauces usually follow the a bit of everything -- sweet, sour, bitter, hot, salty, aromatic, and fragrant line, all in one, so in that sense:

Sweet: fruit juice like pineapple or orange
    Sour: rice vinegar, lemon juice
    Bitter: lemon or lime juice
    Hot: chilies/chili paste, Szechuan pepper
    Salty: soy sauce
Aromatic/Fragrant: Sesame oil, steeped green tea, ginger, garlic

Add in liberal use of Five Spice, and your possible combos are endless.

I would also love to know a low calorie stir fry sauce. I usually buy the club house powder but would love to have a similiar taste but low in calorie

I don't find the sauces here tremendously high in calories tbh, but would like to try and make my own too so will be checking back on this

There was a post a while back with lots of good ideas for stir fry sauces - maybe do a search to find it.
