How do i "fix" this?

Hi there,

I just joined MFP, and I've been working out for about a month now, I do cardio for about 30-45 minutes, followed by another 30-45 minutes x3 a week.

I know they're polar-opposite objectives, I'm trying to "lose" weight, but tone my body at the same time,
toning would require a calorie-surplus, to gain "muscle" if I'm correct,
losing weight would require a calorie deficit,
How can i lose weight, and gain muscle at the same time?
Not to mention, it makes it much harder for me to do either due to my terrible eating habits (slowly improving day by day), any suggestions?
