what is gelatin?

i try very hard to eat organinc but im still new to it. So i came across gelatin and read that is pure protein? but some are saying its only for sore joints? so now im confused. is it organic? gluten free? what is it used for?

It's gross. lol It's skin, tendons, ligaments and bones of various animals that have been boiled.0

gelatin - used to thicken jelly (UK) used in capsule casings. animal in origin. supposed to be good for strengthening finger nails.
