Calf cramps

It seems whenever I'm working my legs my left calf cramps. It is quite painful and is a common occurrence. I try to give it extra attention stretching prior to the workout to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions or similar issues? I'm willing to give anything a shot at this point as it's becoming increasingly frustrating trying to work legs.

My right calf is notoriously tight and always have to give it a little extra love! Have you tried foam rolling before? You may want to incorporate that into your cool downs and I also found frequent massage helps!0

I will try this. I haven't used a foam pad prior to my workout. Thanks for the suggestion!0

sometimes cramping can have to do with electrolyte balance, maybe increase potassium consumption0

I get those in the mornings when i stretch haha.... I drink a bottle of water and it usually helps.0

Try drinking 20 oz of water an nor before working out and have a banana as well. It may help.
Also a nice long cool down would help.0 -

I get them sometimes when swimming. For me the solution is....
1) Keep well hydrated
2) Eat bananas (potassium) before I exercise
3) Have a multivitamin daily.
4) Slowly build up
By doing this I have reduced the frequency by a 70%
If that don't work there are plenty of other things you can try I am sure :-)0 -
