very good advice to many people back track by rushing things.
  • Probably watch this documentary, take a few psychology classes, and nutrition. Never take anyones word on anything until validity among experts is observed on the subject. Take philosophy. Lift heavy, no extreme dieting, no steroids unless you are absolutely committed, you have a lot of money and an endocrinologist as well as 10 years in your sport with near pro abilities. Always bring an MP3 player to gym with plenty of Metal, because the music is usually crap. Metal vs. Pop increases gains by 10000%. Either go paleo, vegan or neither, not both, unless you are Australian. Green Leprechauns give you gains. Lift heavy, lift hard, play hard, eat hard, drink hard, party hard, live hard, die hard, go hard, hardcore, hardcore again......... Enjoy...

    Give money to PBS
  • For most of us, it took a while to put the weight on. So just remember it's even harder to take it off so just stay motivated and positive.
  • Sleep must be given a higher priority for progress and it is far from a passive activity.

I agree sleep is very essential
  • Ladies! Start weight training leave the cardio bunny stuff behind aim for a balanced approach, endless hours of cardio everyday will not give you the body you desire and most importantly it isn't even the most beneficial for your health.

Do not give up its a long sometimes difficult journey if you push through you will succeed.

don't try to compete with others when you start out. all you need to do is beat yourself (as in better your last work out) not smash your face up

Find a kind of exercise that you like so it will become a fun hobby rather than feeling like a chore or a punishment.

Make this a lifestyle , dieting doesn't work . calories in vs calories out . Enjoy foods you love.

    That's pretty much it .

    The Zombies, Run! app.

At the risk of sounding like a salesman, it's awesome - I went from running to the end of my road and having to stop because I was so out of breath to running 4 miles every other day. I started with the short missions (30 mins), but realised that I was going to run out of missions pretty quick, so i increased it to the longer missions (1 hour). But then, weirdly, I just kept running to finish the missions anyway.

That and I stopped eating calories back. The weight is melting off, really happy with progress and I've utterly splintered the plateau that I hit last year before I fell off the wagon.

Be persistent. No matter what happens, keep coming to MFP. You might take a break, you might have a binge day, you might have some reason to not workout but keep coming back. Your friends and the general environment will push you to do the best you can. A year from now you might not have lost all the weight you wanted but if you weren't persistent and stopped, you would regret about not keeping on going rather than being proud of how far you've come.

Second: Get good friends. They are THE most valuable part of this community.

This is actually a very valuable advice. We constantly see contradictions about many topics. For those who needs material on where to research properly:

    Effort = Outcome

    Athletic goals

FACE how you feel about yourself, and how food figures into that relationship.

This cannot be a fix for now, this must be a permanent lifestyle change.

Yesterday is just a memory, tomorrow is just a dream, today is all that matters.

This is a marathon, not a sprint. Don't expect to see massive changes overnight and don't let that discourage you.

Do you own research and find out what works best for you, your needs, your body. Don't compare yourself to others or feel less worthy because you didn't burn as many calories or you're not lifting as much. The key point is that you are moving or lifting!

Lastly, make it fun! If you don't enjoy what you're doing, whether it be running, swimming, 30-day shred, lifting, etc, you won't stick with it. If something isn't for you, move on and try something else.
  • If u bite it write it! And dont lie u are only hurting ur self :)
