You look great my friend and don't let anyone try to tell you otherwise. I have people telling me all the time that's its time to quit losing and I think until I have reached a point where I am happy with the way my clothes feel and look, I wont quit. Especially when the scale is bouncing 10 pounds up and down like a rubber ball. :LOL You look fantastic and have done a fabulous job.

I have been going slow...had a "life happens" moment that caused me to give up on myself, but not give up on being here... I gained back HALF of what I lost and have since lost half of what I gained back...and had another "I could care less" setback recently (but obviously I still care because I kept coming back here even though I wasn't logging)...I refused to weigh, I got up, made the kids lunches and got them off to school, went to work(where I checke in with MFP) , came home, made dinner and went to bed. After a week of that "i could care less" attitude, I finally decided that I really DID care...and I got up early and started doing some "me time" before I got the kids up for school. Made extra effort when I got home. And started LOGGING again. I decided that I was brave enough to face the darned scale, which I just KNEW was going to be way up! (Between TOM and feeling yuck I was predicting 7 pounds up or more) By some miracle, I WAS DOWN, though not much!!! But I was THRILLED that I didn't GAIN!!! Obviously some of my habits are sticking even when i am in rebellion mode.

THANK YOU for your story. THANK YOU for having times of being "Stuck". THANK YOU for proving that as an older woman, I CAN DO IT!!!

Thanks for sharing Patty! You look absolutely fabulous. I managed to lose about 22 lbs before I accidentally discovered MFP, and I think it is the reason I didn't fall back into my old ways.
Like you, when I suddenly decided I better start moving, I announced to my hubs I was going to go for a walk around the block, I think he was rather surprised to say the least! By the time I got home I was certain I was going to have a heart attack. I was 228 lbs and was getting breathless just making the bed! I gradually increased my walking and now try to walk for an hour each day. Surgery last December has prevented me from other types of exercising for at least another 6 or 7 months.
One of the best things you have told us all, is that you have not lost every week, that you occasionally have a treat but increase your exercise when you intend having that treat. WTG! One of the worst things is to say Oh I can NEVER eat that again- yes you can!! but as a very occasional treat not every day. The reason a lot of people give up is because they cannot handle the idea of never again eating their favourite food. But once you really get into eating more healthy stuff and discover that you CAN make delicious low calorie meals, well it is all good! I need to lose another 25 to 30 lbs, but I am just doing my best and I know it will come off eventually. I am older than 50 ( well a LOT older) :) but I am inspired by all the wonderful stories on here like yourself, Patty and missability another lady who has changed her life around ( and most probably saved it ) Keep on going you look awesome. xxxx
  • Fabulous and inspirational and keeps me going! Patruska rocks!

I started this "journey" January of 2012 weighing 330+ lbs... I found MFP by accident when I got a kindle fire for Christmas and discovered the world of aps. I started slowly and with much apprehension. I am almost 50 years old and didn't see much hope in surviving to see my grandchildren grow up. I had high blood pressure, acid reflux, high blood sugar, bad knees, carpel tunnel, back pain, etc.,. etc... etc... the list goes on...I started reading the forums to get ideas and fell in love with the success stories... My biggest goal was to be able to post my story one day.. well I'm not at my goal weight yet.. but I think it's time to maybe re-evaluate things. and If I did this right, hopefully you can see my progress.

The support on MFP is amazing! I've met so many wonderful friends here and I feel that I couldn't have gotten where I am today without them. The hardest hurdle for me to get over was to believe in myself. I spent my entire adult life morbidly obese. I never in a million years thought that I would ever be able to lose weight. My doctor started talking to me about Bariatric surgery... I almost did it... I was very close to taking that step. I'm so glad that I didn't have to. I've tried every gimmick and diet known to man!! WW, Jenny Craig, Doctors weight loss, Adkins, slimfast, Nutra System,..... grapefruit diet, lol.. you name it, I've tried it.

I'm quickly approaching my second year on MFP and I'm quickly approaching my 50th birthday. I've lost 138 lbs... I've gone through countless weeks and months without losing a pound... I've cursed at the scale.. I've had a few binge days in there too.... but I log everyday... I exercise.. I know I'll never be perfect...I'm not going to wake up one day and say ... "Oh.. I've made my goal... I'm done".. I can say this with great confidence, I'll never go back to the way I was...

Always believe in yourself... (One of my MFP friends tells me that often) :) It's not always easy... and I know each person has their own struggles,,, their own stories.. their own demons.

I'll leave you with a quote that I read somewhere..(probably on FB) lol anyhow it really sums up this whole process.. and it's short and to the point. " Your desire to change must be greater than your desire to stay the same".

Fantastic! When I started on MFP I was 325 - I probably wont get to 195 since I am 5' 10" and my trainer says 220 puts me at 23% bodyfat based on my build - but I hope I look as close to what you look like - you look amazing!

Congratulations on your success. I am sure you are enjoying your new lease on life. Well done!
  • Thank you for your amazing story. I am inspired at the moment and that's enough to get myself to the gym for a bit of cardio tonight. Tomorrow for cardio and weights will be easier for me too. You've definitely passed along the positive "never give up" attitude and that even the imperfect can succeed.

Best Wishes on your continued journey. Keep fighting the fight.

I want to thank each and every one of you that took the time to reply to my post. I appreciate your kindness and hope that I was able to inspire someone just a little... If you truely believe in yourself, anything is possible. Life happens.. there will always be bumps in the road... No one is perfect... don't be hard on yourself if you get knocked down, pick yourself up and do it again...
