Hi, I am a bit down right now. Successfully been doing weights for a while and have lost inches and one dress size since starting. I tripped over at work 3 weeks ago and my back has been playing up ever since. It has started to get better and I really miss going to the gym. Walking in short bursts help. I would like to start back with weights again but a bit scared. I was doing deadlifts, overhead presses, bicep curls etc. Can you suggest a gentle programme to get me back into it and also, would doing TRX rather than weights plus some gentle cardio help?
Thanks very much!

you can hurt yourself just as much with a trx as with anything else0

BUMP. I've also been having back trouble lately and never have in my life. I've continued doing weights but have been avoiding squats and going light on back day. I really miss my squats though.. they were my favorite part of leg day
You should definitely beable to get back into weights especially for your arms, just make sure you are using proper form & start off light maybe and see how you feel after.

After injuring my back this past summer I was very careful and slow getting back into lifting. Concentrate on your form, start out super light and listen to your body. If you keep your form spot on and slowly work up from a lower weight you will be strengthening those supporting muscles and you will be able to be back at it soon. Listen to your body!0

I hurt my back in early January, but with a couple of weeks rest, and then getting back into it gradually (40% of my previous weight, and slowly building it over time), I was back at 100% by mid-March. It was frustrating and I was miserable for much of the time. But I'm glad I stuck with being cautious. Because I eventually got it back.
Take care! Good luck!0 -
Thanks to you all. After nearly a month my back is feeling much better so I am going to do some gentle work this week and see how I get on. Good advice about the Trx too. I will take it easy but have been missing the training!0

Oh, good! I was scared to post because backs can be delicate, depending on what's going on. I'm so glad rest helped a lot. Definitely take it easy, and start with gentle stuff until you know you are good to go0

Thanks, aiming to go back tonight. I have not lost much weight over the past month but still eating at 1800 a day so suspect I will count this as a reset and that the scales will start going down again once I start exercising again. I still played the violin for various shows and went to my daytime job so it wasn't all rest. Just rest from the gym. Thanks everyone!0
