So I've pretty much reached my goal, but I'm not ready to move to maintenance yet. I was set to lose 2 pounds a week and was eating 1200 cals a day. So I just changed it to 1 pound a week and MFP upped my cals to 1480 a day. Well I have always been one to eat ALL of my cals and my exercise cals. So when I upped my cals I had absolutely no problem eating them...plus more! I've been doing so good, but now I can't stop eating! I don't know if I should go back down to 1200 or just try to do better. I know it's my mind playing tricks on me, but it's discouraging.
Anyone else have this problem when trying to slowly up your calories?

You could try upping gradually over a few weeks, so you don't have a sudden gain of calories. Say add in 50 - 100 calories to your calorie goal each week until you meet your maintenance number. Might help with the mindset not to have loads more all at once!
Good luck.

Erika's suggestion is a great one! I really like that!
As I have gotten closer to my goal, and I am a very slooowww loser, I have had more cheat days. However, they are scary!!! Recently, I went through a difficult emotional situation with one of my children, and decided to not count calories, to just maintain. That was a mistake. Soon, I was really cheating and couldn't stop!! Yikes, I put on 2#'s in 3 weeks!
That is what scares me the most. How to find the right balance that I can live with for the rest of my life? I know my brain and a splurge day often leads to another splurge day. It is as if my stomach is stretched so that I am really more hungry the next day!
Balance! Even after 20 months, plus my time before MFP, I am still not finding it.
Congratulations to both of you on your weight-loss! It is impressive!
To me the most impressive is the people who keep it off!!! I want to be one of those!!!
