i took it for a month and lost 5 pounds. you need to follow the plan it comes with, because with every meal you need less than 15 grams of fat or else you get really bad "accidents" i never had any thank god but my stool was always orangy (eew) from the fat i consumed from the food. I stopped cause i was noticing some pain in my abdominal area, so i wasnt sure if it was from that or not. it all in all wasnt bad, but its an unnecessary $50 wasted0

Ya if you want to be farting oil and chained to a toilet all day go for it. I am speaking from experience0

I lost 40 dollars taking Alli.0

I took it before it was sold over the counter as Ali.. It was Xenacal in Rx form. It absorbs fat and expels it through your bowels.... Leaves you very gassy and on the toilet all day. The more fat you consume the worse it gets. I was on it for 2 months and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Don't think your just gonna silently let one rip without anyone knowing either.... you will be walking around with an oil stain on your butt..... It is the worse thing in the world and I cant even believe they are selling this stuff without a Rx.... or at all.... Horrible! don't do it!0

I heard about the experiences...Please no one post pictures0

Absolutely .....eat zero fat....have zero side effects. No point to taking the pills really....since the purpose is to remove fat from what you've eaten.
The only thing Alli teaches you is dietary fat is "bad." This is not true! Dietary fat is neccessary and healthy.0 -
Not directly related, but I have an alli fetish. I'm willing to add pics to my collection.
And nothing is wrong with it, if you don't mind orange. #orangelover0 -
OK like everyone else I'm going to warn you, you will **** your pants. Alli's drug information likes to make it sound like it's your fault, and if you just don't eat like a freaking fat freak that you'll be fine.
Not true. I ate a turkey sandwich. *kitten* (well, oiled) my pants. Quit taking alli. Continued oiling pants and having stomach issues in general for a couple months.
Plus if you do the math it is really not worth it. Lets say you follow directions and eat no more than 15 grams of fat per meal, about 45 per day.
Alli blocks 25% of the fat you eat. So it will block about 11 of those grams. Each gram of fat has 9 calories. So taking Alli will save you from absorbing 100 calories a day.
100 calories a day. You are spending $40 on something that WILL make you crap (sorry, oil) your pants to save 100 calories a day.
It's a bit easier to just eat a little less cheese or take a longer walk, no?0 -
I lost 40 dollars taking Alli.
^This.
I took it the first month I was here. I was so scared of side affects, that I ate almost zero fat for a month. I lost weight, but it was from the calorie deficit I created. I started doing research, and quickly found out I was being an idiot.0 -
Ask DavPul about his experience.
ETA: I somehow feel I should change my profile pic for this thread. At least until this thread dies down.0 -
I will tell you, this definitely works to lose weight because THERE IS NO WAY AROUND the side effects. The way the medicine works is it turns ANY FAT YOU PUT INTO YOUR BODY (including good fats) to waste. and you can have anal leakage and horrible cramps and stuff. it works bc itll scare you from eating. lol. im sure there are people whp have had great experiences with it, but everyone i know whos tried it has been disappointed.0

You poop yourself.
I DID NOT!
I mean...
nevermind.0 -

anal leakage of a rusty orange color...
you'll never trust a fart again.
Not personal experience, but someone I worked with... yeah...0 -
I lost 40 dollars taking Alli.
That's all? Just $40?
Sounds like you're one of the lucky ones.
Most people lose $40+...
...and some clothing...
...and their dignity.

I'm not sure I ever trusted one to begin with.0 -

I was already eating a low-fat diet at the time so it didn't work, but also no side effects. So, yeah, I consider myself lucky.0 -
I occasionally do clinical trials for GSK. When I was last in doing a pain study on a painkiller, I got talking to one of the guys who was trialling Alli. Yes, it works for the reasons already stated. BUT they study was done on people who were significantly over-weight by several stone - virtually knocking on the door of obese. As such, the diet tended to be higher in fats so ergo, the subjects lost weight or suffered the consequences.
Bearing in mind that some of the tests they do can tell if you went down the pub for a good session 4 days ago, most people stuck to the diet!0 -

Yes a friend of mine had this same experience. I'd rather be fluffy LOL!0 -
Baseball glove oil will have the same effect, and it's much cheaper. Ask my dog.0

I took Xenical (RX) when it first came out!! Didnt lose much weight, but had to buy a ton of new underwear. No joke, you had to pitch them!! GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0

^This. Alli is like Anabuse for eating, you're so afraid of the side effects that you shy away from any fat. Even when following their plan, everyone is correct about oily stools and always being in fear that you're going to cough and have an accident.0 -
I took it for a few months several years back...I was SO scared of the side effects that I was absolutely anal (no pun intended) about the fat grams I consumed. During that time I never had a problem with constipation, but I hadn't experienced anything like untrustworthy pharts or the like, although the Italian dressing-like film in the bowl was a little disturbing. I lost a few pounds. Enough to write home about.
But then...
It was nacho day at work.
I had one chip with the gooey cheese on it. ONE. FREAKING. CHIP.
I found myself flying across the hall to the bathroom and made it JUST in the nick of time. Had I needed to go to a different bathroom I would have been screwed six ways from Sunday. It was awful. Just awful. Ruined the whole experience for me. I knew I would be paranoid from that point on, so I tossed the bottle and never looked back. I just didn't need that kind of pressure, yano?0 -
what I don't get about he girl sitting on the tub edge is ....is she not wearing any underwear?0
-
DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T!
Everything they said.
It was awful!
AND, it's unrealistic AND your body NEEDS fats.
Just dont.0 -

I love fat. Fat fat fat. Down it goes. Down into my belly.0 -
I took it like 3 years ago and got absolutely no results. Not surprising.0

What tub?
Apparently, the hottub/Alli skit is in violation of the CG (all hail)...0
