chestnuts????

Anyone actually roast chestnuts over an open fire??..cuz we are trying to do this with our gathered chestnuts in woodburner....not sure if there is a specefic technique we should be aware of???....very grateful for any tips...ty

Are they edible chestnuts? Not all are.

Hi Chat, Yes we roast sweet chestnuts on our woodburner - you need to split them first with a nutcracker otherwise they will explode. We bought a natty iron chestnut roaster on amazon, which works well.

lol...ya...ldiscovered the exploding chestnut phenomen last night...ended up using a cake/pie tin
