Same Journey Different Results

Okay, time to get serious about this journey I have begun—AGAIN. As with most of us, this is not my first rodeo and I am hoping that this time the results will be different. I am doing the journalling and learning that I have to put EVERYTHING down and not leave off the bad stuff just to make the numbers come out in my favor. Granted, I have no trouble lying to myself by only putting the good stuff down, but that behavior is what has allowed me to fail so often before so I am biting the bullet and putting all my cards on the table so to speak.
Wow, looking at that paragraph, I realize how often I speak in metaphors. You will have to forgive me, cause that is probably not going to change.
I am 47 and have been at a very unhealthy weight for the last few decades and I am determined not to head into the next big milestone as Fifty and Fat. I am going through a medically supervised weight-loss plan (no meds) and this is part of my process. I am a Texan transplanted in the Carolinas and would love to have your support on this journey.
The hard part for me is getting the recommended exercise because of medical issues (I have osteoarthritis in several major joints and have bone damage in my right ankle) that makes a lot of movement painful and keeps me from being able to walk for more than short distances. I do not have access to a pool, so the water aerobics thing is out so I am having to learn different ways to burn calories (goal is 30 min. - 5 times a week). I have bough the bands and have uncovered a stationary rowing machine from the attic and will be starting with that.
Since it is just my BF and I, we tend to eat dinner out a lot and that also can pose a problem so I am trying to learn what is and is not acceptable to order (big learning curve).
Anyone out there facing, or having faced similar issues, or just want support and want to help support in return?
