Hi All
Started today I am very over weight and unfit. I have a target of 15minute walk in the morning and the same in the afternoon. Plan to increase by 5minutes a week until I'm up to 30minutes twice a day then move to a jog does everyone think this is a good place to start.
Look forward to your input.

That is how I started. When I moved to jogging I just did it walking then jogging for a bit then back to walking until I was jogging for a mile. I always warm up with walking. After 7months I run 3 to 5 miles a day.0

Nice to meet you and welcome to the journey! You'll have fun meeting new friends here, people who can relate to you.
I'm starting my walking journey yet again, after falling off the wagon with some health problems lately.
Feel free to add me for encouragement back and forth! Started my "walk to run" journey 2 days ago, we've got this! Seems like you have a solid plan down.0 -
A lot of success stories in this forum came from a fitness plan that just started with walking. If you are not certain about transitioning from a walk to jog, then you can do one of two things.
1) You can walk for 5 minutes, then do 30 seconds of jogging, followed by 2-3 minutes of walking, then 30 seconds of jogging again, then 2-3 minutes of walking, Maybe do 5-6 30 second jogs each walking session? And either increase the time or number of them as you continue with your walking program. This will help you to increase the intensity as well as start strengthening those ankles, feet, knees, etc. This could help as you make a transition from walking into resistance training and more advanced cardio.
2) If you're not ready to start jogging, then pick up a weighted vest from an athletic store and wear this during your walks. This will work in a similar way of increasing the intensity a bit, and strengthening your lower body.
Hope this is of some help! Good luck to you!0
