Started fitnesspal several months ago but fell off the wagon. My weight has fluctuated all my life but I am now the heaviest i have ever been, 178. My goal weight is 135-138. I am using fitbit as an additional tool and logging steps. I have been walking everyday and increasing activity. Also using resistance bands... does anyone know how to calculate them in the exercise page?

So far so good but I realize now this is long term fitness / lifestyle change, not a diet.

Hi Meryllritchie2- If you type in your exercises in the Exercise Diary it will ask you how long you exercised for then it will tell you how many calories were burned.. There is also this calorie burn calculator site that I found! http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc

Good for you for realizing that this is a lifestyle change!

As for resistance bands, I don't log resistance training at all. Unless you're doing circuit training, or you're doing hours of it every week, it doesn't burn many calories. It does improve strength and helps you preserve muscle tissue as you lose weight, so it's well worth doing - just not to burn calories.

I wouldn't trust MFP's calculations for exercise; it tends to overestimate calories burned for most activities that I do.
