MFP gave me extra calories?

I updated my weight loss today and since I have now lost over 10 pounds, the app asked me if I wanted to update my daily calorie limit. I said yes and my calorie limit went from 1,510 calories a day to 1,660. Eating more calories to lose weight seems counterintuitive to me and I am hesitant to up my calorie intake by 150 each day.

Was this a fluke by my app, or should I really be eating more calories a day to keep losing 2 pounds a week?

Are you exercising less? MFP has built into it the expectation that you will eat back you calories from workouts. If you switched from sedentary to more active it would raise your limit.

I ultimately decided to look up my BMR and TDEE on a separate website and altering my caloric and macro needs accordingly. Originally MFP had me eating 1480 a day and while I could do it I didn't like it. My BMR is actually close to 1650 and I've altered my daily goals to match it, and I am still actively losing weight.

I 100% concur with this! I did my own calculation using the website below then manually entered that into my MFP profile. I then ate ONLY those calories, even though MFP told me I got a lot more when I entered my exercise. I just ignored that and only ate what I had manually entered. I did this because I'd already put my exercise into my own calculations, so if I were to eat what MFP told me I could I would have been way over. I just liked to enter my exercise for fun, to see it in "print". ;)

    Hope that helps.

Another good website for calculations is Fitness Frog. They can help you calculate BMR, TDEE, etc.

I've also heard people say good things about Scooby's Workshop and IIFYM :)

That sounds like an input error somewhere along the line to me! When you lose weight, MFP will decrease your calorie requirements, all things being equal. Have you changed some information, such as your activity level?
