My family and I had been planning on running a 5k on Thanksgiving. I just got a phone call from my dad that we are now signed up for a 10k. I have been running 2-3 miles a day but I do not feel nearly prepared enough to run double that in less than a month. How much more should i increase my mileage? Or even go about getting ready for this in such a short amount of time

I'll be doing a 10k on Thanksgiving as well! You can do it!

The general recommendation is to add 10% to weekly miles to avoid "too much too fast".

How many days a week do you run? Perhaps trying added 1/2 mile to one of your runs this week, and see how it feels. Then, add another 1/2 mile next week. Again, see how it feels.

The biggest thing I learned was to slow my pace as my runs got longer. My pace for a 5k is much faster than my pace for anything over 6 miles.
