Energy levels & dietary changes on MFP?

I'm just curious if anyone has experienced gaining more energy, or has made changes in the types of food one is eating while doing any significant (estimating at 1.5 or more, but happy to hear about all calorie plans) weight loss.

I have experienced about the same energy levels as before, but I am kind of changing my eating patterns slowly but surely. I'm using some junk food to bring myself to within a couple hundred calories of my daily calorie targets (1580 currently), but for the most part, I'm not having that urge to just eat whatever I feel like.

Sidebar: has anyone else ever bought into the myth about there being anything wrong with their metabolism? I was starting to think that, until I lost 23 pounds in less than 2 full months. It really seems that how much we eat is relatively more important than what we eat in terms of burning off fat stores.
