Kettlebell- Strength or cardio?

Hey all!

I'm shelving my Focus T25 for now, and concentrating on my 5k training. I don't have motivation to do Focus T25, 5k training, and taking my dog for his 1-2 mile walks every day, and I really want to get into running, since I travel so much for work, and it is something I can do almost anywhere. To make sure I build muscle, I'm going back to my kettlebells and using some dvds I have and Fitness Blender for workouts. I tried out a 12 minute kettlebell routine from Fitness Blender I really liked, and my HRM says I burned 71 calories in 12 minutes. My heart rate definitely got up during the swings! I listed it as strength training, but it didn't ask for calories. Should I list it as cardio because I am raising my heart rate?

Thanks!

Rachel

Pavel Tsatsouline said he swung a 53 pound kettle bell, while standing on a force plate, and generated over 500 pounds of force. He didn't specify whether or not that included his body weight, but, either way, thats a lot more than I expected.

I really want some used kettlebells at home

    Uuummm depends...

Are you using a 1 lb kettlebell and jump around with it?

Or are you using a 20 lbs kettlebell and lift it around?

20 pound kettlebell doing some lifting like curls, but also 1 and 2 arm swings, which raise my heart rate to 145 BPM in 45 seconds of swinging. I don't count reps, I do it for a set amount of time.
