If it's your weakness, then it will deter progress. Alcohol is the first fuel utilized in the body till it's gone and inhibits fat use for energy.
That's not to say you can't have it, but if you do, you need to ensure that there's energy balance. That may mean exercising more before a party and depending on how much you intend to drink, compensating may mean a long bout of cardio.

I love Guinness. It is dark and thick and rich tasting so I can have only one and be perfectly satisfied. I found having light beers is worse since I want more.0

God--I know the feeling. Plus its hard to have just one. FWIW--Guiness is pretty low in calories and alcohol. Also Miller Lite isnt too bad tasting or nutritionally. I prefer a good microbrew but there dont seem to be many at all that are lower calorie. Have fun and just get back at it afterwards. One day isnt gonna make or break you as long as you can get back at it soon afterwards.0

My go to beer when I don't want to consume a ton is Guinness. One pint has 198 calories, but it fills you up so you only drink one or two. Plus I like to savor it so sometimes it takes me a while to drink.0

While I'm out I use that site to find the calories of what I'm drinking or about to drink.
Off the top of my head I know
Becks Premier light is 64 calories
Amstel light is 95 Calories
Yuengling Light is 99 Calories
If your going to a house party just bring a 6 pack what ever you will be drinking and plan ahead how many you will drink.0 -
I like trying different beers on tap and I don't like depriving myself of flavor in exchange for low calories. I try to alternate one beer with one or two glasses of water (depending on the glass and ice).0

This is my experience as well. My husband calls it "having a slice of beer." I've switched primarily to dry wine, but go for a satisfying heavy beer when I have one.0 -
I know your pain and to make it worse I actually brew my own beer with a couple of friends. I do try to limit the amount of beer I drink but not generally the type of beer. I am a bit of a beer snob so I really can not stand the taste of most light beers. I typically only drink one or two beers a week and at the most one beer a day if I am having a rough week but for me this gives me more incentive to exercise that night so I can earn my tasty adult beverage yummmm.0

Guinness is one of the best beer choices, actually...0

Just keep logging everything you drink. That way you can see the cost and then figure out how to best handle it. I chose to save my exercise calories for my weekend consumptions.0

My beer or choice is dos equis....
I do dance alot while I drink, but thanks for all the inputs!0
