Sprained ankle - how do I keep exercising?

I fell on the treadmill 2 days ago and sprained my ankle (and ripped ligaments). I'm in a boot for 2-4 weeks and starting physical therapy in a few days. Doc said I could do 'upper body', but I have no clue what to do. Anyone else ever deal with foot injuries, but still managed to exercise? I'm going to take it easy this week, but want to not fall off the healthy path while I'm recovering.
