Oatmeal calories confusion!?

I'm aware that 1 cup of dry oatmeal has 300 calories and 1/2 cup has 150. I measured out 1 cup of dry oatmeal and 2 cups of water and cooked it. The end result was 2 cups of cooked oatmeal. I took out half (1 cup of cooked oatmeal) to have for breakfast. Is it 300 calories or 150? I know I'm risking sounding pretty stupid but I'm terrible with this kind of thing :/

    It's 150 calories.

It might be easier if you think of it in portions instead of cups. You know the portion of oatmeal you put in is 300 calories. You then took 1/2 of that portion, which will be 150 calories.

^^^ This, the water and cooking didn't change the caloric value.
