It isn't that hard...what's his passion? Does he love his car/truck? Get him some detailing stuff. Sports? Get him tickets to an event. Sex? Give him some coupon for a free BJ or whatever his turn on is.

I got my husband a new backpack. I used to have a black backpack which he stole and tore up through general use. The zippers no longer work and it is just trashed. So I got him a Swiss Army backpack. Which I have been hiding in plain sight in my closet (he never goes in there) for a few weeks now. I had a coupon and free shipping so it was significantly less than retail. :) I'm also getting him a new water bottle for the gym since he lost his somehow. Oh t- shirts and underwear. He's lost a significant amount of weight and some of his clothes are just hanging off of him and he refuses to buy anything new because he is a Cheaps McGee.

For my dad, I have both a birthday gift to get him and Christmas. Since his birthday is 12/18 I always make sure to get him a separate birthday gift because people like to hose him over and give him combo gifts. He likes meat. LOL. So I will totally get him some Pepperidge farm sausage. Not sure what else. I imagine I will get my brother something sports related. Bears or Bulls gear. Or maybe Notre Dame since we grew up in NW Indiana following them.

Haha I have already bought my dad everything I can think of over the years related to his passions, which are musical instruments, tennis, wine, chess and dentistry. Bacon maybe?

If you have to wait until your birthday to get one, something is wrong.

I'm one of those difficult people. Everything I want I either just buy or it's expensive ($500-1500).

My dad cooks A LOT of food to save (like black beans for example) and then freezes stuff in portions for the family; so I'm going to get him a nice set of Pyrex bake ware/storage containers. It's a practical gift, and he doesn't really care for anything during holidays, mostly just happy with a card.

I'm keeping it simple this year otherwise, I don't want to spend a lot of money because I can't afford to. So there will be lots of more personalized cards, and possibly gift cards for iTunes or Barnes and Noble.

    :P

My default gifts for men: Knives, Flashlights.

Seriously I don't think I've ever seen a guy who wasn't disproportionately pleased by a $20 swiss army knife or LED flashlight. Even if they aren't the kind of guy who already owns and uses such things it still works somehow.

I get my guy candy (he loves the christmas packages of lifesavers and starburst), and a bottle of Glenfiddich. He also gets new, heavyduty winter socks. I've never seen anyone be sooooo happy for new socks.

He might just be happy with the person who gave them to him.

If you're going to make it twice as good, how about inviting a friend.
