Lifting Heavy

I have been lifting heavier this past couple of weeks, and all I seem to want to eat is fast food all day. Like last night after lifting I had DQ cheese burger, fries, a coke, and a small shake. Finished it all but the ice cream. Is this normal?

It depends.. Are you eating enough? Maybe it's just cravings. You can eat those things and make them fit into your calories.

AFAIK, lifting itself has not been associated with fast food cravings :indifferent:

if you just started to lift heavy then yes. when i first started i was ravenous all day long. your body needs food to help repair and recover. make sure you are meeting your macros and eating a high protein diet.

also when lifting heavy make sure you are also drinking a lot of water.
  • I'm not new new to lifting. I just don't want to be counterproductive to making my gains. It seems like I'm always craving burgers and fries. This morning I woke up and wanted a coke which I have never craved before.

Trying to get all my water in between my shakes and cokes :)

I'm not sure about the fries, but your body needs protein after lifting. That's what you are craving. You might want to cut back on the burgers and find some healthier sources of protein. Of course, an occasional burger and fries is fine. Good luck!

It's normal to want food when you're being active. Even though some people think of exercise just as a means of helping loose weight, the fact is it requires calories to complete, and so our bodies will respond in kind.

Just "keep calm and carry on".
  • The burgers and fries haven't made me gain weight, just gain muscle. This morning I woke up feeling leaner than I did before.

I was just curious if others had experience this before.

oh how I wish I felt leaner the day after a burger......I don't particularly have more cravings on lift days but I do generally get pretty hungry. Usually a good steak and potato solve that tho.
