Well, I don't have recipes per say, but I am hypertensive and can perhaps share some tips with you. I'll send you a message in a bit.

forget it. Sodium has nothing to do with blood pressure. it's a myth. if you want to lower your blood pressure you have to reduce your carbohydrates. you can eat all the salt you want.

might want to be careful with this advice many cardiologist still want patients to have a low sodium diet 2000mg. The DASH diet which has been pretty rigorously tested and has shown in most cases to reduce blood pressure is <2000mg. And unless you are a direct caregiver and understand her case you could be giving detrimental advice to a potential salt sensitive hypertensive.

OP-some great tips are to take your normal recipes and of course cut out all the salt and salt sources. Find lower salt alternatives. I'd talk to your doctor if he thinks it is safe for you to use a salt substitute like potassium chloride.

    My favorite diet for hypertension:

The DASH diet. There are recipes in here.

Have you had your blood tested to make sure your sodium is too high? Last year I self diagnosed myself and put myself on a low sodium diet. When I went for a check up, everything came back healthy except my sodium level, it was too low. Ha-ha, the joke was on me.:embarassed:

throw out salt..buy fresh veggies ( if you don't cook..just place in bowl and microwave)..buy fresh meat..bake or crock pot.....fresh veggies...and you have just lowered over 50% of sodium intake.

I don't really have any low sodium recipes. Just concentrate on home cooking and don't buy processed ready meals, as they can be packed full of sodium. Don't add salt to your home cooking and try and buy low sodium versions of stock or gravy, or avoid altogether, or make your own!

stop adding salt when cooking, cut out processed foods (packaged meats & canned veggies), etc... eventually you will just loose the taste for salt all together. you can take any recipe and reduce the sodium by just using fresh produce and reading labels.

Sound advice, Bama56. I recently was told to reduce my salt intake (not because of high blood pressure though), and although it can be challenging some days (love my salt), the adjustment is getting easier. Like several others, I stopped adding salt to my meals, and I have eliminated the frozen soy products I have been eating for quite a few years.
