Is it okay if I just eat at maintenance for my goal weight

I am currently 64 kilos and would like to get down to 60 but I'm happy being between 60-65 so I'm no rush to get down to 60. When putting losing weight in my fitness pal it keeps coming up with 1200 calories and I don't want to eat that low as it's under my bmr and I already have metabolism issues so don't want to cause further issues. Maintaince calories for 60 kilos is 60 calories less a day then what it is for 64 and I will probably on some days have more of a deficit as i also excercise 5 times a week and don't always eat back all those calories. I know this will be slow weight loss but my main concern is not gaining and if I lose some of the vanity weight I'll be even happier. Just wanted to know if it's okay to approach my weight loss plan this way.

If you are happy with the pace of weight loss (and from the sounds of it your are) eating at your target weight maintenance is an excellent way to lose weight considering how close you are to your target. The two most important things are your ability to maintain the weight (and you are getting practice at that) and being happy with yourself. Looks like you got both bases covered. Congrats.0

I don't see why that wouldn't work. Mathematically, it is a sound strategy. If you eat the maintenance calorie of any weight greater than your current weight, you'll eventually reach that greater weight, so it stands to reason that the reverse is true. Why not try it? :drinker:0

This is what I do. I have 4 more pounds to lose to reach goal, but really I'm happy where I am so I just eat a little under maintenance and don't eat all of my exercise calories back. It's a slow weight loss but I don't care. I'm happy doing it this way and I'm able to stick with it, which is more important than anything else.0

Yep, it should work as long as the difference between your current and goal maintenance is not within the margin of error for your logging. If you are shooting for a 60 cal deficit, that is pretty easily lost in minor logging or measuring discrepancies. Remember also that your maintenance needs may not match the calculators exactly. Try it for awhile and see what happens -- with accurate logging, you can figure out your real maintenance by calculating backwards from how much you lost.
If you are exercising to increase the deficit even more if should definitely be doable.0 -
Thanks guys for your responses. I think I'll try this for a week and see what happens if I put on ill cut a few more calories if I stay the same or lose then I'll keep to this until I reach 60 kilos or decide I want faster weight loss but for now I'm happy for it to come off slowly.0

Yes definetetely excercising burning about 300 calories a session and looking at increasing intensity of excercise to burn more0
