Greetings, I began working out at the gym in August, an average of three days per week, and thought that by counting calories I would lose weight. Despite working out, I found out that I had gained weight, lost fat, and gained muscle....nevertheless, I am more motivated now than ever, especially with the Holidays upcoming, I would like to eat healthy and be a good example for my family too.

I just learned 5 foods that should be eliminated from the diet: (1) Concentrated Juices, i.e., OJ, because through the concentration process it takes out the nutrition and leaves sugar water (2) Margarine because of the trans fats and it contributes to cardivascular disease, alternative is real Butter, (3) Whole Wheat Bread(s), pastas, pizzas, pies, beer and wine, as eating these high carbs sends a message to the brain to store fat, in addition to high physical or mental stress can produce high cortisol hormone levels, the alternative is to eat health snacks throughout the day, carrots, celery, fresh fruit, etc (4) Soy Products, (5) CORN Genetically Modified Organic (GMO) Corn and Gluten Free Cereals GMO foods. ****GREEN TEA is excellent for anti-inflammatory issues, and increases the natural hormone Addponectin that helps our body to burn fat. Learning of these five foods to avoid has motivated me, and made me realize how at 53 I am just learning about the rationale to avoid these foods, which makes sense, especially when I can look back at times that I avoided these without even knowing the risks and felt healthier and lost weight.

I look forward to chatting with members of myfitnesspal and building a support group to help each other through our weight loss goals, and encouraging each other to exercise.

LETS GET HEALTHY FOR LIFE!
